Articulated Arm Boom Gate Installation with Multi-Layer Safety and Controlled Access

Project Overview

In this project, safety was the client’s top priority. The site required a controlled, step-by-step access system to manage vehicle movement safely and predictably. In addition, the installation environment presented a height restriction, making a standard straight boom arm unsuitable.

Our task was to design and install a boom gate solution that addressed both safety and spatial limitations, without compromising reliability or compliance.

The Challenge

The project presented two key challenges:

  1. Height Restriction
    The available overhead clearance ruled out the use of a traditional straight boom arm. Any solution needed to operate safely within a confined vertical space.

  2. High Safety Expectations
    The client required a system where access control formed one of three layers of safety, ensuring that vehicle entry occurred only after specific conditions were met. This approach reduced risk, prevented accidental operation, and improved overall site safety.

The Solution

To overcome the height limitation, we selected an articulated arm boom gate, which allows the boom to fold as it opens. This design enables smooth operation in low-clearance environments while maintaining full functionality.

The access control system was configured to support a layered safety strategy, including:

  • Controlled vehicle access through sequential operation

  • Integration of safety logic to prevent unsafe gate movement
